Market Update for Sunday 21 April 2019
In Vegetable and Salad lines;
- Chinese Cabbage, Savoy Cabbage, English Spinach and Red Oak Lettuce are unavailable.
- Jap Pumpkin, Corn, Cabbage, Beans and Broccoli are expensive due to short supply.
- Most other vegetable and salad lines are good and prices are reasonable.
The best value vegetable and salad items are;
- Butternut Pumpkin
- Brushed (dirty) Potatoes
- Cauliflower
- Eggplant
- Brussels Sprouts
- Zucchinis
- Snow Peas
- Green Capsicum
- Lebanese Cucumbers
- Celery
- Regular Tomatoes
- Wild Rocket, Baby Spinach and Salad Mix
In Fruit;
- Pineapples and Papaya are very nice.
- Watermelons, Rockmelons and Honeydew melons are also nice.
- Valencia Oranges are nearing the end of their season as are USA Navels. Australian Navel Oranges are still a few weeks away.
- Lemons are in season and Limes are still very good.
- New Season Ruby Grapefruit have started.
- Mandarins are available and much sweeter now.
- Gala, Fuji, Jazz, Pink Lady, Red Delicious and Granny Smith Apples are all new season fruit now and excellent. Store apples covered in the fridge to keep them crisp.
- Bananas are good and prices are easing.
- New Season Packham and Nashi Pears are available and very good. Williams Pears have finished.
- Grapes are still very good.
- Australian Green Kiwifruit are in season.
- Plums are nice but we have stopped Nectarines and Peaches as they are finishing and past their best.
- Blueberries and Strawberries are nice.
- Passionfruit are good but prices are on the way up again.
- Quinces are in season.

Order your home delivered fruit and vegetables before 9 pm on Monday for delivery to Beecroft, Berowra, Berowra Heights, Hornsby (South), Mount Colah (north of Yirra Rd), Mount Kuring-gai, Normanhurst, North Turramurra, North Wahroonga, Pennant Hills, Pymble (East side), South Turramurra, St Ives, St Ives Chase, Thornleigh, Turramurra, Wahroonga, Warrawee and Westleigh on Tuesday afternoon or evening.
