Market Update for Monday 30 November 2015

In Vegetable and Salad lines;

  • QLD Pumpkin is unavailable and other Pumpkin varieties are scarce. Sweet Potato is better value.
  • Sugar Snaps are scarce. Snow Peas are more abundant and better value.
  • The quality of most other vegetable and salad lines is generally good and prices are reasonable.

The best value vegetable and salad items are;

  • Brushed (still dirty) and Chats (Small White) Potatoes
  • Sweet Potato
  • Cauliflower and Broccoli
  • Beans
  • Zucchinis
  • Lebanese Cucumbers
  • Celery
  • Regular and Cherry Tomatoes
  • Silverbeet Spinach
  • Hydro & Loose leaf lettuce varieties

In Fruit;

  • Pink Lady, Gala, Sundowner, Fuji, Red Delicious and Granny Smith Apples are all available and good. Store apples covered in the fridge to keep them crisp.
  • Packham Pears are still available and very good. Buerre Bosc & Nashi Pears have finished for this season.
  • Australian Navel Oranges are still available and very good. Blood Oranges have finished for this season.
  • Lemons are scarce and expensive. Limes are more abundant and better value.
  • Mandarins have finished for this season.
  • Bananas are good and relatively cheap.
  • Mangoes are nice but prices are holding firm for the best fruit. We will have discounted trays of Mangoes available throughout the Mango season.
  • Peaches, Nectarines, Apricots and Cherries have started. The early season fruit is very good and reasonably priced. We will have discounted trays of Peaches and Nectarines and boxes of Cherries available throughout the season.
  • NZ green Kiwifruit are excellent. Kiwi Gold have finished for this season.
  • Strawberries are expensive but there is still some nice fruit available. Blueberries are also nice.
  • Australian Grapes have started. The early season fruit is pricey but nice.
  • Pineapples and Red Papaya are very good and reasonably priced.
  • Rockmelons and Honeydew melons are good. Rockmelons are the best value.
  • Watermelons are also good and prices have started to ease.
  • Passionfruit are unavailable at the moment.

Other Items,

  • Try our Free Range Eggs, Dates and Honey.

Order your home delivered fruit and vegetables before 8:30 pm on Monday for delivery to Asquith, Beecroft, Berowra, Berowra Heights, Hornsby, Hornsby Heights, Mount Colah, Mount Kuring-gai, Normanhurst, North Turramurra, North Wahroonga, Pennant Hills, Pymble (East side), South Turramurra, St Ives, St Ives Chase, Thornleigh, Turramurra, Wahroonga, Warrawee and Westleigh on Tuesday afternoon or evening.

For Christmas week;

  • We will be doing our normal Tuesday delivery run on Tuesday 22 December.
  • We will be bring forward our Thursday run to Wednesday 23 December.
  • Orders for both delivery days will close at 9pm on Monday 21 December.

We will be closed for holidays from Thursday 24 December 2015 until Monday 18 January 2016.

The Market will be closed for Australia Day on Tuesday 26 January 2016.  We will bring forward our Tuesday run to Monday 25 January (with orders taken on Sunday) for that week.
