The best value vegies are:

  • Brushed Potatoes (still dirty) or Chats (small white)
  • Sweet Potato
  • Carrots
  • Button Mushrooms
  • Cauliflower & Cabbage
  • Chinese Cabbage
  • Broccoli
  • Zucchini
  • Avocadoes
  • Spinach (Silverbeet & English)
  • Asian Vegetables
  • Hydro Lettuces and Salad Mix

Corn is available again but still a bit expensive. Grape tomatoes are also available again.

Tomatoes and Cucumbers are still scarce & expensive. Most other vegetable lines have started to get cheaper again as more produce becomes available with the onset of warmer Spring weather.

In Fruit,

  • Pink Lady, Gala, Fuji, Red Delicious and Granny Smith Apples are all very good at the moment. Sundowner Apples are also now available and are crisp and hard. Store apples covered in the fridge to keep them crisp.
  • Packham, Beurre Bosc and Nashi Pears are also very good.
  • Australian Navel Oranges are in season and really nice. Blood Oranges are also in season and very good.
  • Lemons and Limes are good and reasonably priced.
  • Imperial Mandarins have finished for this season. Afourer Mandarins are now in season. They are easy to peel, sweet & juicy and have not many seeds. Tangelos are also available and very good.
  • Bananas are very good and reasonably priced.
  • New Zealand Green Kiwi Fruit are in season and good value. Gold Kiwi Fruit are also available.
  • Qld Strawberries are in season and very nice. Blueberries are also good and a bit cheaper this week.
  • Early season Red Seedless Grapes from USA are now available. The quality is quite good but they are expensive. The USA Green Grapes aren’t that nice yet so we’ve dropped them off our list.
  • Passionfruit are available and good.
  • Rockmelon and Honey Dew are both available. Quality is ok but they are expensive.
  • Seedless Watermelon is very good but expensive.
  • Good quality Topless Pineapples are available again.
  • Red Papaya is unavailable due to quality issues. Papaw is a better option at the moment.
